2018 Summer Shoot for Beyond The Stork by Iggymint
Ask me about some things I like and I’ll say…
- Kids indie brands run by clever mamas.
- Creative people.
- Nice places to eat and shop.
- Inspiring, pretty pictures.
So do you want to know what happens when you bring some of the top UK kids indie brands and mama brands together, then throw a little party in a gorgeous space?
In a collaboration with destination store Beyond The Stork, London-based stylist and mama to 4, Selena from Iggymint, brought the Summer vibes to some of the UK’s best indie brands. Rooted in good, old-fashioned play and adventure, Beyond The Stork offers a mix of products that refuse to let family life compromise on style.
And so the scene was set.
Hosted at East Dulwich venue Fifty Seven (the home of the renowned East Dulwich Supper Club), the shoot was a riot of playfulness and colour, making pretty Summer scenes that big kids and small all enjoyed.
Read on to discover some of the best indie brands you’ll find for kids right now and wallow in the delicious eye candy that is Iggymint’s 2018 Summer shoot for Beyond The Stork.
Creating a sweet backdrop for the day’s event was My Mini Studio with crochet ball garlands that show off their skill for a perfect colour palette. Little hands couldn't wait to squidgy into a huge moss heart by The Letter Loft which brought the natural world inside with decor that's actually ALIVE(!) - and lasts for ages.
You can always rely on the fabulous Lala and Pom to bring the Britishness, adding style with a pompom headband. As firm believers in poms on everything, these bands are the perfect way to finish off a party outfit or dress up your weekend gear. As for the combo of heart, cake and sitting somewhere you shouldn't.... that definitely seemed to make this little gal's day.
No party is complete without sweet treats, and artisan bakery Sucre a la Creme's pastel vanilla cupcakes were a massive hit. Styled against colourful rainbow party ware by Meri Meri from The Jelly Rabbit, sticky fingers found the swirly icing and real cherry decoration the best snack they could have asked for. Well, who wouldn’t?
Nichola Cowdery showed off her world of cuteness and colour with bright illustrations that conjure up incredible characters . A rainbow light by Ginger Rock Designs echoed the table decor with tiny, marquee twinkles that would make magic in any kids space.
Because we know all children have a love thing going on with dinosaurs, freelance prop maker Amy Paige sprayed mini T-Rex’s golden and made other spangly dinos too. They brought glamour and a bit of bling to the table, romping across blankets to terrorise the grown ups.
Other woodland friends came along from Just Acorn, a hand maker of intricate dolls and animals. Mice poked their whiskers out of wooden windows and dolls found their way into snuggly laps - playtime was in full swing.
Liberty print wands by Little Red Fox were perfect for wizards and fairies with the Summer florals bringing a sweet, pretty edge . Other nostalgic Liberty items included delicate handmade quilts by Kirstykins and beautiful blankets by Poppy and Honesty. After all, you can never be quite sure when someone might fancy their nap…
At every party there’s always someone who wants to avoid the crowds in search of a bit of peace and quiet and for the more bookish party-goers, Smallprint Books supplied the entertainment. Describing themselves as the home of “captivating story-telling and the awesome pop-up”, Smallprint Books specialises in bold illustrations and funny words. I can say it’s a good job their shop’s not close to my house. I would lose myself and my whole family in there for DAYS (hmmm…should we move to Forest Hill? : ) )
So whether you’re committed to buying the best of indie brands or you run a brand and would love to have your products styled, Iggymint shows that with the right mix of product, Summer fun can always be just around the corner.
